How to style your food to create mouthwatering images for your social media, food blog, or photography clients
Basics OF Modern Food Styling
Course taught by internationally renowned food stylist Natasha van Velzen
Imagine: you are scrolling through your Instagram feed and you see a gorgeous food photo.
What comes to your mind?
… is it something like this?
I wonder how did she do THAT?! WHY does her steak look so juicy, oh and look at the gorgeous fried herbs on top and her greens are this emerald colour! Why does my broccoli look so dull when I cook it?
It will probably cost me like 7 ruined smoothie bowls to even come a tiny bit close to this.. It's a waste of time and money to even try!
What's her styling technique? She is for sure a trained cook. I cook pretty well but why when I try to take a picture of my soup it looks like a hot mess?
I love the colours! Why are my dishes 50 shades of boring brown?
I wonder where is she getting her inspiration from! There are millions of recipes out there, how do I even start to choose?
… these are some of my work
I’m not trained chef. I never studied design, I have a university degree in linguistics.
I hardly cooked until I was 26 years old.
But now I style food for big international brands and wait till I show you what I have prepared for you!
It is a great pleasure to watch Natasha at work.I have rarely seen a food stylist who creates the most amazing dishes in such an unagitated, unassuming, and highly concentrated way. She is an impressive artist, of which there are only a few…

The biggest challenge for food styling beginners is this…
You want to create gorgeous dishes, photograph them and grow your audience.
Maybe you even have your own delicious recipes. You are drawn to food.
But.. you're stuck.
Instagram and YouTube are a great source for inspiration where stylists are showing off their work, but.. nobody shares the complete process of HOW they do what they do!
THE BEST YOU GET is basically just a few time lapses and if you're lucky, and persistent someone responds to your question in the comment section.
There are no OFFICIAL SCHOOLS that teach Food Styling. You gather information by teaspoons on the internet and from a couple of books.
You try to assist other Food Stylists, SO THAT YOU CAN LEARN THE TECHNIQUES but they say: “Thanks, I’ll get in touch” and disappear.
But there is always a way
if you could only imagine…
feeling inspired and knowing exactly how to prepare your food and your set to get the perfect shot.
understanding the essence of Food Styling and its basic principles.
being able to translate your delicious recipes into beautifully styled, mouthwatering dishes that draw in the crowds & get you work seen.
being immersed in the process and LOVING every second of it?!
Imagine your food looking
so good as if you had a food stylist on set?
How amazing would it be TO GET UNCENSORED ACCESS to the mind of a successful food stylist who styled the campaigns of some of the biggest brands in the food industry and see every one of their moves?
Imagine knowing exactly WHY she chose to add that flower, sprinkle those pomegranate seeds, or deep fry those ginger slices…
Imagine being able to see the plate COME TO LIFE, with gorgeous colours, movement, and interest!
Imagine knowing WHAT TOOLS to use in your process to make sure your food isn’t melting, crumbling, or falling apart before you got that perfect shot?
So you can then use these new found techniques and concepts and mesh them with your own style.
